Umbwe route kilimanjaro climbing

The best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro is typically during the dry seasons, which occur from late December to early March and from late June to October. These periods offer the most favorable weather conditions, with clear skies, minimal rainfall, and lower chances of encountering adverse weather on the mountain.

The two dry seasons coincide with Kilimanjaro’s primary climbing seasons:

January to February: This period is considered one of the best times to climb Kilimanjaro, as it falls within the short dry season. The weather is generally clear, with mild temperatures and low precipitation.
August to September: Another optimal time for climbing Kilimanjaro, as it falls within the longer dry season. The weather is typically stable, with clear skies and cooler temperatures, making for excellent trekking conditions.
During these dry seasons, climbers have a higher chance of summiting Kilimanjaro successfully, as the trails are less slippery, and the risk of encountering rain or snowstorms is reduced. Additionally, clear skies offer stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, enhancing the overall experience.

The summit success rate for climbers attempting to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro varies depending on several factors, including the chosen route, duration of the climb, weather conditions, individual fitness levels, and altitude acclimatization. On average, the overall summit success rate for climbers attempting Kilimanjaro ranges from 60% to 70%
